Albertossy Espinoza

Albertossy Espinoza, an actor, dancer and choreographer born in Ecuador and raised in Chicago started his training at Northern Illinois University. Albertossy toured nationally and internationally with numerous, prestigious dance companies in Chicago and LA. His other credits include teaching abroad, being a guest choreographer for various dance companies, performances in musicals, and TV appearances. His choreographic works have been presented in Chicago, Spain, France, Guatemala, California and Canada. He has also choreographed for movies, musicals and music videos. In 2004 he founded Los Angeles FUSION Dance Theater and in 2008 he founded FUSION Performing Dance Academy (www.fpdacademy.org), a non-profit dance facility that serves the under-served children. As an actor, he landed lead roles in films distributed by Blockbuster, “The Price of the American Dream” and “East LA King” as well as three more features and a cable series currently airing in Canada and Netherlands. In 2007 Albertossy became a board member for Dance Resource Center of Greater Los Angeles and in 2011 he was asked to step into the role of President, which he currently holds. Albertossy was invited by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre dancer, Vernard Gilmore to perform in New York City for Summer Stage. His experience of sharing the stage with Alvin Ailey dancers was a dream come true. 2010 also brought a prestigious Lester Horton Award nomination for performance in a duet. In 2011 Albertossy made his debut at Malibu Stage Company as a principal dancer and choreographer for the incredible musical, “Victor Victoria”. His highlight was when the Legendary Dick Van Dyke expressed how impressed he was with the choreography, and in 2012, Mr. Van Dyke asked Mr. Espinoza to choreograph the production of “Cabaret” which he was producing. This is Albertossy’s first season with Djanbazian Dance Company. He is grateful to Ms. Djanbazian for her trust in him. 

 

Alex_Crawford_sm.jpg Alex Crawford

Alex Crawford has been training in ballet, modern, and various folk dance techniques with the Djanbazian Dance Academy since 2003, joined the Company in 2009, and has been immersed in the Persian-Armenian cultures through national and international performances. She has toured Southern California to perform in Welcome to Persia, performed the solo Memento: an Uzbek Dance in Toronto, Canada for the Tirgan Festival, and also performed as a soloist, Sindokht, in the ballet of Zal and Rudabeh in both Los Angeles, and New York. She participated in several community productions, such as Life Concerto, Expulsion, and Seven in One productions. Ms. Djanbazian created a solo for her which portrayed Ghamar-ol-Molouk Vaziri to promote "Celebrating the Art of Femininity." Now in her second year of college, she is pursuing a major in astrophysics while performing with the Djanbazian Dance Company in their newest full ballet production Priceless Soul.

Rubina_Vartanians_sm.jpg Rubina Vartanians

Rubina Vartanians has been dancing with the Djanbazian Dance Academy since 1995. She has received her training in ballet, modern contemporary dance techniques as well as traditional folk. In 2009, she joined the Company and has been performing and traveling with the company since.  She participated in several performances including Komitas- Banished but Not Forgotten, The Ballet of Zal and Rudabeh, and Welcome to Persia.  She toured with the company to several locations including Oregon and New York, and internationally to Canada and Armenia. Mrs. Djanbazian created a part for Rubina in the Dysfunctional Dinner Table in “The I” exhibition and she participated in several community productions, such as Life Concerto-, Expulsion, and Seven in One productions. She continues to dance professionally and teaches dance to students at the Djanbazian Dance Academy and Crescenta Valley High School. Her love for dance influenced her to pursue a career in Kinesiology at California State University, Northridge.

Alina Ananian has been a part of the Djanbazian Dance Academy since 1994 and joined the Company in 2009. She has been trained in modern, ballet, contemporary and traditional folk dance techniques. Throughout the years, she has participated in various cultural performances throughout Southern California and has toured nationally performing in Oregon and New York.  Alina also has participated in several dance productions: Komitas-Banished but not Forgotten, the Ballet of Zal and Rudabeh, and Welcome to Persia. Mrs. Djanbazian created several solos and duets for Alina, such as Water Jug Dance from La Bayadere, Zang, and Girl Talk. Her international performances include Toronto Canada, and two different trips to Armenia. While performing and dancing with the Company, Alina received her bachelors degree in Mathematics with a minor in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2013 and hopes to begin law school the following year. 

Biayna_Ayvazian_sm.jpg Biayna Ayvazian

Biayna Ayvazian has been attending the Djanbazian Dance Academy from a young age and joined the Company in 2011. With the Company, she has traveled to San Diego, Texas, New York, Canada, and Armenia. Along with these performances, she has also performed the solo Longing: Armenian Dance in Toronto, Canada for “Tirgan” Festival. Biayna's landmark performance with the Djanbazian Dance Company was her participation in the ballet of Zal & Rudabeh and she is thrilled to be a part of Priceless Soul.  She is currently a student at Cal State University, Northridge and plans to pursue a career in Speech Therapy.

 

Tenie_Avanessian_sm.jpg Tenie Avanessian

Tenie Avanessian's passion for dance began at a young age. She joined the Djanbazian Dance Academy in early 2010 where she began training in folk, modern, and ballet techniques. Tenie participated in several different festivals, a number of cultural events, and traveled with the Company to perform in several cities including San Diego. She became a member of the Company in 2013 as she joined the cast of Priceless Soul. She continues to pursue her love for dance while attending California State University, Northridge.

Valerie Haapaniemi has been attending the Djanbazian Dance Academy since 2006. She has been dancing with the Pre- Company for two years and has joined the production of Priceless Soul.  Valerie has practiced ballet, modern, contemporary, traditional folk dance throughout the years and continues to strengthen her technique in these various dance styles.  She has performed in the Academy's annual shows including the most recent, DanceExpose and in cultural events around the city of Glendale. Valerie plans to continue dancing at the Academy, improving her skills and knowledge as a dancer.

Sonia Ohan has been attending the Djanbazian Dance Academy since 2003, and received her training in ballet, modern, contemporary, traditional folk dance throughout the years. She has joined the Pre- Company for four years and continues to strengthen her technique in these various dance styles. She has performed in the Academy's annual show including the most recent, DanceExpose, and toured in various locations to perform in festivals throughout Southern California. Priceless Soul marks Sonia’s first full length ballet performance and she continues to dance as well as write and play music.
